Development of Bifacial Heterojunction Type Cell (ÇİTAH)
Project Name: Development of Bifacial Heterojunction Type Cell (ÇİTAH)
Responsible APYK: Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Nanotechnology Application and Research Center
Project Principal Investigator: Dr. Ayşe SEYHAN
Project Information:
It is of great importance to establish a steadily growing, sustainable photovoltaic sector with maximum technological gains in our country. The proposed project aims to produce domestic and national, high-efficiency, mass production-compatible bifacial c-Si heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells and panels, thereby contributing to the development of this sector in our country. The cells to be developed in the project will have a front-side efficiency of at least 24%, a bifacial cell effective efficiency (front-side efficiency + rear-side efficiency * 0.2) of 27%, and the bifacial panel to be developed in Project 8 will have an effective efficiency of 23%. The project products have many application areas such as solar power plants (GES), building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), and floating GES. Thus, the developed technology will contribute to the creation of more job opportunities in our country’s photovoltaic sector. The master’s and doctoral students and company employees to be trained within the scope of the project will contribute to the qualified and trained human resources in the field of solar technologies in our country. The project results and products will be shared at domestic and international congresses, fairs, and conferences, on social media, and on the websites of the relevant project partners and the platform, thereby increasing public awareness and information. IMEC (Belgium), which joined the TFTP team as an international partner, will support the project activities. The work to be carried out with IMEC is defined in a separate document written in English. In particular, cross-experiments have been designed with IMEC, especially in the cell development phase. These experiments will both improve the quality of existing basic processes and enable the development of unique cells by trying some new materials. In addition, the metal contact system (interconnection) called TWILL, developed by IMEC, will be implemented in the project. Thus, IMEC will provide support to the project not only in cell development but also in panel development to be carried out within the framework of Project 8.
