Synergetic Collaboration between IMEC and METU -GÜNAM on Silicon heterojunction (SHJ) and interdigitated back-contact (IBC)-SHJ Solar Cells and Modules (nGen-SiHet)

Affiliated Research Infrastructure: ODTÜ-GÜNAM – IMEC (Belçika)

Project Leader: Prof. Dr. Raşit TURAN (ODTÜ-GÜNAM)

Project Information:

This project is a collaboration project between IMEC and ODTÜ-GÜNAM to develop novel c-Si heterojunction (SHJ) solar cell and module technologies with high efficiency and low cost under the umbrella of TÜBİTAK’s 1004 program. In addition to the base line process optimization, novel materials like nanocrystalline Si (nc- Si) will be employed to improve the electrical and optical performance of the SHJ devices. For the module development, IMEC’s patented TWILL approach will be used to fabricate mini modules with different sizes. TWILL technology is expected to reduce the material cost by reducing the Ag amount in lamination process.
